This day we started by revising the concepts from last week by using the blackboard. We revised the basic structures again so it was very clear.
The teacher would always let us talk and participate by asking directly and giving feedback, which is really helpful so we become more confident and less shy, learning a new language can be a little bit overwhelming, so the class was balanced.
We were divided in groups again so we could practice that new information. The good thing about this is that we had to talk the results out loud after so we wanted to do our best on our answers and did not fool around in that time.
Then we were given a handout that contained a grammar point, present tense verbs in Dutch.
This grammar point may seem boring and impossible to do while participating, but the teacher tried to make it more active by asking us the pattern used in the verbs. We had to guess it by looking at the conjugated verbs in the handout after a few minutes we checked our ideas with the teacher. This system to learn grammar was really new to me and it was really interesting because we all could participate and it was not boring.
We discovered how present tense works for regular verbs in Dutch, it resembles to German in many ways and then she wrote it down in the board so everything was clear. She showed regular verbs structure and two irregular verbs (the basic ones, Zijn and Hebben).
Then there was a table, half empty. It was an exercise in which we had to fill the blank spaces with the correct form of the verb in present. She gave us some time so we could finished it and then correct them.
For me the times were perfect, we always had a few minutes to complete our tasks but not too much so time was not wasted. It was a very useful class since we started some basic grammar.
